The Freaky Raku is a ceramics studio founded by Francesco and Zaira, a creative duo based in the Riviera del Brenta, in the Venetian countryside. Francesco, a self-taught ceramicist, and Zaira, a photographer and stylist, blend traditional Japanese raku techniques with their own contemporary flair. Inspired by the beauty of imperfection, their unique handmade pieces are deeply influenced by the serene landscapes of the Venetian lagoon, where they collect local clay for their collections. Each ceramic creation celebrates individuality, making The Freaky Raku a perfect fusion of art, craft, and nature.

Limited Edition | The Freaky Raku x Inside Venice Barena Collection
Hand-thrown and glazed at The Freaky Raku Studio, this bowl features a purple-gray glaze that creates a watercolor effect with varying nuances. The glaze also reveals brown speckles and a striking craquelé (crackled) effect, both of which are a result of smoke permeating the clay during the reduction phase of the raku firing process.
With a smooth texture and polished finish, each bowl is crafted from lagoon clay, purified and treated to reduce its natural salinity, before being fired and reduced using the raku technique. This process gives the glaze its signature crackled texture and a timeworn, ancient aesthetic.
This bowl is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
All of our ceramic ware is glazed with lead-free, non-toxic glazes. Please ensure proper care for hygiene: hand wash only, and avoid using the dishwasher.
